Release Notes

RAD Studio 6.1

RAD Studio 6.1 will probably be the final release for Code Plex. This release fixes a few bugs I have fixed since the 6.0 release.

Also I just updated a new video since the UI looks completely different now than the last video from 2013:

I am sad to see Code Plex go as I liked it as a way to upload open source projects by simply uploading a zip file. I don't like Git Hub so I am working on a site called Lava Pub http://www.lavapub.com but it isn't live yet.

If you find any problems in the new version please create an issue or a discussion here, or email me at corby@datajuggler.com.

Thanks to everyone at Code Plex, I wish you would create a version 2 instead of shutting down.

RAD Studio 6.0

RAD Studio 6.0 is finally here! Sorry for the delay, but I have been very busy at my day job. Here is the short list of fixes for this release:

Breaking Change

1. I completely got rid of System.Collections that inherit from CollectionBase and now I use List<T> type of lists for all load methods. For years I used the class ListHelper.ConvertToListOf to convert a CollectionBase class to a List<T>.
Sorry if this breaks any existing projects, but it was needed.

2. Check Constraints were not being loaded for a remote compare; now this is fixed.

3. The user interface has been updated. The old look had been around for 6 years, so it was time to update the look of the Main Form.

4. There is now a Random Banner control that links to 5 of my open source projects, and links to my Go Fund Me project Teeth-A-Thon to raise money to get my teeth fixed, and to my sponsor The Libertarian Dictator Audiobook on YouTube.

5. I finally implemented the Help Button on the New Project Wizard to illustrate which folder you should select for the Project Folder.

6. I fixed the Visual Studio Project Updater. This was broken for Visual Studio 2015 and I hadn't looked at the code; I had it hard coded to check for Visual Studio 2013 and Visual Studio 12. Now it starts at version 15.0 (Visual Studio 2017) and tries to find the most recent installed copy for the DTE and it gives up at 8.0 which is Visual Studio 2005. I recommend Visual Studio 2013 or higher. I tested using Visual Studio 2017 and now I develop primarily in VS 2017 so this is the recommended version.

7. I fixed the 'New Project' scenario where a new project had missing references. Now new projects have a reference to System.Collections.Generic to a few of the References Sets.

I will be making some new videos and tutorials soon.

If you experience any problems please leave a note on the Issues tab of this project, or you may email me at corby@datajuggler.com. I will try and answer all emails.

Thanks,

Corby
