Release Notes

Sorry for the delay in updating a release to RAD Studio as I had not had time to update until now.

This version totally does away with Access, as now that SQL Server Express is free, anyone can use SQL Server now. This new release also uses SQL Server for its own internal storage of data, the previous version used a local Access database.

I have also created a very useful sample project call 'Method Manager' which is a stand alone application which allows you store common methods in a database and copies them to the clipboard for you to insert into your projects. This program was very simple, it only has one table, called 'Method', but it illustrates how to use RAD Studio, and I have found the program 'Method Manager' to be a useful tool for any C# development projects (not just RAD Studio projects). Please let me know what you think.

I am convinced those who have downloaded this program are either not able to use RAD Studio fully, or if anyone is currently using it, not 1 person out of thousands of downloads has bothered to rate the program so either everyone hates it, or as I suspect some people were not able to figure out the usage of RAD Studio. If you need any help with RAD Studio, please email me at 'corbynichols@gmail.com', I will do my best to answer all emails, but as of yet only 1 person has emailed me and requested a SQL Server version of RAD Studio because Access did not run on Windows 7, I apologize to that user for taking 5 months for this release, but working a day job takes it toll on my "free time". This version addresses that problem as I have Windows 7 installed so I know it works.

Included in this download in the 'Class Room' folder is a 'Quick Start' tutorial.

Also included is a program called 'RAD Studio Cryptography Manager', which is a tool that has been included since version 1 of RAD Studio, but many may not know it is there, but you may find useful even if you do not use RAD Studio, the program 'RAD Studio Cryptography Manager' is something I use to encrypt and decrypt strings for app.config and web.config files.

Please someone rate this program, even if you only find 'Method Manager' or 'RAD Studio Cryptography Manager' useful, one star would make me feel like the last 6 years of my life was not in vein.

Also, I am still looking for contributors that would like to take RAD Studio to the next level, as I alone cannot do everything and keep a day job to eat.

Thank you,

Corby Nichols

Update: 6.22.2010

I accidntly uploaded a version of the project with two of the projects digitally signed as an expirement in Visual Studio Extensibility,so this update fixes that, everything else code wise is the same;
